PART 1 - General
1.1 General
.A
Rear Loading mail boxes as supplied by P. Riopel Inc in accordance with Post Office Guidelines and specifications for materials, sizes and construction.
1.2 Shop Drawings
A.
Submit shop drawings in accordance with applicable sections.
B.
Indicate sizes and description of components, locations, materials, thicknesses, finish, color, and any other details required to completely describe the product.
PART 2 - Products
2.1 Materials
A..
Doors: Stamped from 1/4”(6.35mm) thick 6061 T6 aluminum alloy in the required dimensions to form front closures
B.
Frames: Stamped from 3/16”(4.75) thick 6061 T6 aluminum alloy
C.
Bins (Boxes): All welded steel 22 ga(.030“/.76mm thick) cold rolled (interior), wiped satin coat steel (exterior)
D. Hinges: full door length plated steel(interior) stainless steel (exterior) continuous 180 degree hinge, .030”(.75mm) thick, 1/4”(6.35 mm) long knuckle, .090”(2.25 mm) diameter pin.
E. Locks: 5 pin cylinder cam style with 3 keys. Each set has a different combination
F. All Steel Parts of mailboxes are phosphate treated and finished with a baked enamel coating. Aluminum doors and frames are line polished horizontally with a #80 fine grain finish and
G. Numbers engraved on doors.
H. Fastening Devices: supply units complete with non-ferrous nuts and bolts as required for installation and assembly.
2.2 Fabrication
A.
Each box is supplied with the following accessories:
- door - locking mechanism - frame
- hinge - number plate - fasteners
B.
The lock boxes shall be interchangeable from one position to another in any one assembly. A rear loading lockbox assembly shall consist of one or more of any type of lockbox. For Front Loading details refer to individual models in catalogue.

Fabricate units so that they are self stacking, easily assembled, secured to the parent structure and bolted together.
2.2 Fabrication

Holes are provided on the sides, together with nuts and bolts, so that each box section can be bolted together securely.
E.
Doors are designed to have numbers engraved into aluminum.
F.
Doors are securely fastened to frames with a continuous hinge.
G.
Label holders are 11“(280mm) long by 1/2”(12.7 mm) wide, flanged inward in a C’ channel shape, top and bottom providing for a 3/8“(9.5 mm) opening. Holders are securely spot welded to the top rear of each box section.
H.
Types ‘C’, ‘D’, ‘D3’ and ‘E’ boxes, in addition to the above, have two(2) bracket hinges, one on each side(’D3’ has only one on right side), to allow door to be opened to no more than a 90 degree angle.

Boxes should be packed in corrugated cardboard cartons, with foam corners for added protection, no higher than the equivalent height of 10 ‘A’ box high unit.
J. Openings to receive the boxes must be multiples of the following dimensions:
Types A, B, C:
Multiples of 5-1/2”(140 mm) high and 12”(305 mm) wide
Type D:
Multiples of 11”(280 mm) high and 12”(305 mm) wide
Type D3: (each unit is 3 doors high)
Multiples of 11”(280 mm) high and 12”(305 mm) wide
Type E:
Multiples of 11”(280 mm) high and 24” (610 mm) wide
Type F:
Multiple of 16-1/2”(420 mm) high and 12”(305 mm) wide
*Add 3/4” to overall dimensions for rough opening size for ease of installation.
The perimeter space should be sealed with either a wood or aluminum molding.

3.1 Installation

Install all items in accordance with manufacturer's instructions and to detail drawings, plumb, level, and secure
